Featured Artists

I am hoping to start featuring some Etsy artists who create things for babies, toddlers, and anything parenting related. I will be interviewing them and/or they will be supplying me with an item (or two) to giveaway! How exciting!

It's potty time!

I know Bug is only 17 months but we got her a potty anyway! Here are the reasons why:

1. When I worked at a day care most of the two year olds starting to potty train were afraid of the potty.

2. Every  time I take off her diaper before the shower she pees on the floor! (not fun) 

So since it was shower night I decided I was getting her a potty and try to have her sit on it instead of peeing on the floor. We got the Fisher Price Pink Princess Stepstool Potty! It was $20 and change plus it had great features such as playing music when you go potty, the top part can clip onto a normal potty when Bug gets older, and it folds down and becomes a stool. Not too bad for 20 bucks!

 Easy peasy!

We went into the bathroom and I let her explore it.

"Whassat?"

I sat her on it with her diaper to see if she'd like it and she freaked a little.

But then I took her diaper off and she said "poo poo" (which she never says it and means it) but I sat her on the potty anyway and you'll never guess what happened next!

Bug went poo poo on the potty! (and then stood up and peed on the floor) But hey, I'll take it!

Caps for Good

Lets start this new year right by giving to those less fortunate than ourselves. I am encouraging anyone who can knit or crochet to join with me and make just one (or more) newborn hat to warm up nearly four million newborn babies in the developing world!

A little about this campaign:

The Caps for Good grassroots initiative will be running from September 2010 through February, 2011 encouraging citizens of all ages to participate by making a cap and advocating and fundraising to provide newborn care in developing countries. At the end of the program, caps will be distributed to pregnant women and new moms and their babies in Save the Children's programs in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Here's how to get started. Download this Caps for Good Action Kit (a PDF file) for free patterns (both knitting and crocheting) and more ways to get involved!
