I am accepting sponsors until April 7th so if you would like to donate a prize {it does not have to be pink or relate to breast cancer - any item would be great} please email me at lfrank1018@gmail.com {subject: Auction}.

What's Hookin' Good Lookin'? {Prayer Shawl Ministry}

Since I moved into our apartment a little over a year ago I have visited a couple local churches and finally found one where I felt we fit in. Bug loves our church and looks forward to it each week! Our church has a Prayer Shawl Ministry where knitters & crocheters get together once a month to make things for donation. I missed the first one I was able to go to due to unexpected plans but I am so psyched to sit around with a bunch of old{er} women and crochet my little fingers off! Since I missed it last month I figured I'd get a head start and make some hats until the next meeting. Here is one I made most recently:

I just love the pattern I have from The Dainty Daisy Blog for this Shell Stitch Beanie. It's super easy and works up quickly!

What's that? You can't crochet/knit but you want to help?! Wow, that's super great of you! You can donate so that I can buy yarn to use for donations or to give to the church for our meetings! Just $2-3 can get a whole skein {roll} of yarn that can make a few small hats!

Crocheting for a Cause {The Fight Against Breast Cancer}

The current cause I am crocheting for is:

The Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure!
To the left is my cousin, Jen, who is doing this walk for the 3rd year!

Why she walks:
The picture above is of me with Fran, my Mom's best friend and my "otherMom." This picture was taken just months before Fran lost her battle with cancer. It is in her honor that I walk and also in honor of my Grandma Andrews who is a breast cancer survivor.
Thanks to all my shoppers I was able to donate 10% of my shop profits, a total of $58.02, to the Susan G.Komen Foundation last year. It is now time again to start making donations. Please consider donating to Lattes for the Cure for the price of your morning latte. No donation is too small.

How you can help:
  • Donate so I can buy yarn to crochet for this cause. {one skein/ball of yarn is around $2 which can make many flowers for the cause!}

This amount will be used to buy yarn specifically for crocheting flowers and other crochet items for breast cancer awareness.

If you have a cause please hop on over to my "Do Some Good" page and share your donation site.

Inspiration Sundays & A Winner {Elf Hat}

I was a busy bee lately getting orders completed plus making things for the craft fair that was yesterday. It didn't go as well as I would have liked it to but I did meet some great people!

Since I have tried about 5 craft fairs and can't seem to do as well as I would like to I think I am going to take a break for a while from the fairs and go to some this month and see which ones look busy and try those for next year. Until then I will be crocheting hats for hospitals. I would love to make hats for newborns and cancer patients. I will be keeping track of the hats I donate and will be posting at least once a month with the hat donation tally along with photos. :)

I am placing a donate button on my left side bar {a little bit down on the page} if you would like to donate for me to buy yarn specifically for crocheting for a cause. Once I hear back from some hospitals I have contacted I will make a list of places I will be sending my things to.

And now for the winner:
Thank you to everyone who entered in the Elf Hat giveaway! I love these and they are perfect for holiday photos! Winner was chosen using rafflecopter and the winner is...

Save the tatas!

My cousin is signed up for the Susan G. Komen 3-day for the cure walk...for the second time! I am exhausted just thinking about all that walking! Please stop by her donation page and donate if you are able to. No donation is too small!
Also, for every item I sell until the walk 10% will be donated!

Here's another way to contribute!
Ella Bug Inspired has some awareness bracelets in her shop.
 She is donating a portion of the profits for the awareness bracelets she has listed in her etsy shop to the corresponding charities. Her mother in law and friend are doing walks for two of the organizations so profits will be donated to their efforts.

If you have an Etsy shop and would like to donate a portion of your profits please convo me and I will add you to the post and promote!
If you or someone you know has been affected by breast cancer I would love to hear your stories!
Please share by commenting below.

Please pass along, tweet, facebook,blog or anything else if you know someone who would be interested.

If you'd like to donate a crochet or knit hat please email me: totshop728[at]yahoo[dot]com

Caps for Good

Lets start this new year right by giving to those less fortunate than ourselves. I am encouraging anyone who can knit or crochet to join with me and make just one (or more) newborn hat to warm up nearly four million newborn babies in the developing world!

A little about this campaign:
The Caps for Good grassroots initiative will be running from September 2010 through February, 2011 encouraging citizens of all ages to participate by making a cap and advocating and fundraising to provide newborn care in developing countries. At the end of the program, caps will be distributed to pregnant women and new moms and their babies in Save the Children's programs in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Here's how to get started. Download this Caps for Good Action Kit (a PDF file) for free patterns (both knitting and crocheting) and more ways to get involved!

After you have made your cap please visit my Flickr Group and share your picture! Also, comment below with a link to your blog, facebook page, Etsy shop or any site you'd like and I will make a list of your links to post here on my blog and share with my facebook fans!

Please take the time to pass this on and lets warm up those babies! Who's with me?!
