an experience that made me who I am today

 This exact moment changed everything! 

I carried my daughter for 9 months but no one could ever explain the feeling you get when you hold your baby in your arms for the first time! The love I have for her could never be explained! I never thought I could possibly love someone as much as I love my bug! At this moment I became a mom and it is the best title I will ever hold in my life! I love every bit of it...the crying, whining, sleepless nights, battles of feeding, cleaning messes, changing diapers...the list goes on and on! Her sweetness, cuddles, her "I woo woo" (I love you), kisses, hugs, silliness...all make the other things worth it! 

My daughter has made me a better person. I'd like to be a mom who she could look up to & have a great relationship with...like I have with my mom!

my favorite shows

Oh boy, I don't watch TV all too much but here are the shows I absolutely can not miss!

  So addictive! I love this show! It has been on forever and hasn't gotten old or boring!

This show is so dumb since last season...but I still watch it just in case it gets better...but it never does. It used to be good!

Love, love, love Glee! I am a total Gleek! Can't get enough of it!

16 & Pregnant started when I was pregnant and I have been watching that and the Teen Moms to follow. It's a terrible example for teens...but I watch it...maybe because it makes me feel like a good mom.

This is another one I am not proud to say I watch...but I can't help it! It's like a train wreck you can't stop looking at!

I watch this show every night before bed. It clears my mind and makes me laugh.

I can't express how much everyone means to me! 
I love my hubby and my life was made 100 times better when I had bug!
My hubby's two boys are such a joy to be around & I love them very much!
My parents made me who I am today! I hope that I can raise bug as well as they raised me.
My Nanny is such a caring and giving person & I love having her in my life!
My sister is someone I can talk to about anything! We have such a great relationship!
My friends keep me sane! If I don't have an occasional get together I go crazy! 
I love everyone who is in my life right now. 
They all mean so much to me...otherwise they wouldn't be in my life!

Photo & Prompt Challenge: Day 1

a photo of yourself and 10 facts

1. I was born on October 18th and I'm 28 (although after I turned 21 I stopped keeping track and now I have to ask my hubby how old I am)

2. I am a mother to a beautiful 18 month old and a wife to my hubby for 2 years.

3. I have two stepchildren that I love very much!

4. I love to eat...a lot! I eat small meals all day long and I especially love snacking on chocolate ice cream or chips and queso!

5. I love dancing. Just Dance 2 is my favorite Wii game at the moment! (I get pretty competitive!)

6. I hate taking baths but could take a shower for hours!

7. I love crafting! I crochet, scrapbook, paint...you name it, I've probably tried it!

8. I have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education & almost have my Master's in Special Education...but I'm not a teacher, yet. Finding teaching jobs on Long Island is near impossible and I'm not ready to move yet! I'm just enjoying being with my daughter now!

9. I am pretty clumsy...I trip and break things more often than one should.

10. Being a mom is the greatest thing I have and ever will do in my entire life! I was not prepared for all that came along with it and I feel like I am winging it half the time...but I love every second of every day (and night) being with my daughter!

Meet bagladystuff shop owner Jessie!

I recently purchased one of her lovey rag quilts for a good friend of mine who just had a baby boy! Jessie was a joy to work with and I couldn't wait to get them! When the package arrived I came to find that she had included 2 loveys so that when one is in the wash he would still have the other! (I know how important that is!) I haven't seen the new baby boy yet to give him his new gift yet but I know he will love it!

What made you want to become an artist?
I wanted to learn to sew so that I could make my nephew a handmade baby blankie-my mother in law made my 2 sons'  blankies and I wanted my nephew to have the same gift :) I think every baby deserves a handmade blankie :)

Do you have a job outside of Etsy? How do you handle both?
Yes-besides a mommy of 5 :) I am a part time Social worker!  I sew when my kids are sleeping at night, and I only spend about 10-15 hours a week (if that) sewing.  I wish I could spend more time sewing, but at this stage of my life it just isn't possible. I know that I'll have many more sewing years left-but my kids will all too soon be grown and off to college! Sewing is my hobby, what I do for fun :)  I had to start selling products to support my fabric addiction :) LOL

What is your favorite item to create?

Rag quilts for babies :)

 

What advice would you give to new artists on Etsy?

Find out what sells best before making all of your products-make a few products and then list them-before making a ton of products! You don't want to end up spending a lot of time on items that might not sell!  
Make sure your customers are happy, they'll come back for more orders if they are!

Where do you create? 
I iron and cut fabric in a workshop in my basement-I sew in my living room :)

What is the inspiration for your work?
I LOVE that my children each have a blanket that was made just for them with love. I love making blankets for babies that I know they will sleep with every night and that will provide endless hours of comfort :)

Do any of your items go toward a special cause?
I donate quilts for fundraiser events (usually silent auctions) from time to time, and I also volunteer my time to make quilts for local charities and organizations.  I don't have a lot of extra time to do this, so it is a goal of mine to donate more of my quilts in the future :)

What are your goals for your shop?
I would like to one day be able to sew as a full time job, making enough money to quit my part time job. I would also like to have more "finished" products, most of my items are made to order because I haven't had time to make any products ahead of time with all of the orders I was getting :)
