What A Year!

There have been some ups and downs throughout the year but I couldn't have asked for a better 2010!

I am so blessed to be surrounded by great family and friends who are such supportive and giving people! I am thankful that I found a job I absolutely love (and that my hubby found one too)! I love being able to spend every day with my daughter at this age. She is growing each and every day and I am happy I get to experience it all!

A little something to brighten my day!

I'm having a bit of a rough day today. Bug was up for the third night in a row at 3am...wide awake! I thought she would take a good nap but she only napped for an hour! I am super tired today. Good thing I don't have work!

Teething Bites!

I have been up this morning since 3am with Bug. She was super squirmy and would not go back to sleep! At 5am we got out of bed since there was apparently no hope getting her back to sleep and she had a fever! Poor baby! I can't wait until she has all of her teeth.

These molars are the worst and she is getting 2 of them in at the same time!

My teething lifesaver is this Infant Teething Feeder. She used it as a tiny baby when she was just starting on fruits and veggies. You just take some frozen fruit or veggie chunks, stuff the net, and hand it to baby! (maybe put a bib on too to catch the drool!)

Now I do the same and it sooths her teeth while giving her something tasty and healthy! She loves frozen apple slices! If you do not have one of these I would put it on my shopping list!

Hip Hip Snow Day!

Well, my hubby put it on his Christmas list and here it is! A snow storm! We are so excited that neither of us had to go into work today! Good thing because we were barely able to get out of our door this morning!

 

The snow was just about halfway up our door!

It has been very windy outside so I waited to take Bug outside until it calmed down a little. It took 15 minutes to bundle her up and she only lasted about 2 minutes outside! She didn't like the snow all that much. Here are some pics! Hope those of you who have this snow stay warm and safe inside!

If opening gifts with Bug last night at my in-laws was any indication of how this morning is going to go it is going to be a mess! Once she saw the picture of the toy on the boxes she was screaming "mama" and signing help! She wanted every toy she unwrapped opened right then! I'm glad this year she somewhat was excited about the gifts! 

Remember to keep in your hearts what Christmas is all about!

Bye Bye Binky?

My Bug is 17 months now! Wow how time flies! I'm wondering if the time is coming to say bye bye to the binky. I have no idea how to go about getting her out of this habit that I created!

She never took a binky until we transitioned her from her bottle to the sippy cup. I suppose that since she wasn't sucking on the bottle anymore before bedtime she needed a replacement so I started giving her a binky at 11 months! I don't know what I was thinking! Maybe I was just that desperate for sleep but now I'm kind of kicking myself for it!

The only thing I have been doing is taking the binky out of her mouth before I get into bed so that she isn't sucking on it the entire night. She'll just pop it back in if she wakes during the night. 

Any tricks to kick the binky? Any suggestions as to what age to start? Should I just wait until she's old enough to understand so I can give it to the "Binky Fairy"?

DIY Kids Plate

I saw these face plates for kids and I thought they were so adorable! They were a little more than I'd like to spend on plates so I decided to make my own.

 

Here is what I did:

During a trip to the craft store I picked up one of these paint pens specifically used on ceramic. (I got a couple of colors knowing that I will be using these for other projects!)

 

 I bought a plain ceramic plate and then drew a little monster face on it that the kids can decorate with their food!

There were no instructions on the pen to bake it but I think I am going to so that it does not wash too easily being that the kids will be placing food on it! 

These are the baking instructions from my Google search:

Bake on cookie sheet at 300 degrees for 35 minutes.

Jersey Shore Fans

I'm not proud of it but I am a Jersey Shore fan and can't wait for season 3 coming in January!

Apple Muffins

Ingredients:

-1 1/2 c. flour
-1/2 c. sugar
-2 tsp. baking powder
-1 tsp. cinnamon
-1/2 tsp. salt
-1 egg
-1/2 c. milk
-1/4 c. oil
-1 c. apple, peeled & chopped
-1/4 c. raisins
Topping:
-2 tbs. flour
-2 tbs. oats
-2 tbs. brown sugar
-1 tsp. cinnamon
-1 tbs. butter

I am so glad I got an apple slicer!

1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon & salt. In a small bowl combine egg, milk & oil. Add wet ingredients to dry and stir just until moist. Fold in apples & raisins. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full.

2. Topping: Combine flour, oats, brown sugar & cinnamon. Cut butter into pieces and add to mixture. Sprinkle over top.

3. Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes. Let cool.


I make these for my Bug and freeze them and defrost one at a time. To defrost, take out desired amount and leave in fridge overnight. I usually pop in in the microwave on defrost for a few seconds so it's nice and soft!

Yummy!

These are delish for the whole family, not only for toddlers!
