Meet Etsy shop owner of sheilarharden (Fun Funky Fibers)

Tell us a little about yourself.
Not much to tell. I am a SAHM (kind of) with twin boys age 8. Yes, we are a very busy household. I have 2 Lhasa's (dogs) &  I'm a native Washingtonian - which is rare! :) I've been crocheting since I was just little - both grandmothers and my mother were all very crafty and creative. My mother taught me how to add the extra details to make something "special".

What made you want to become an artist?

It's my escape. I love especially to work with combining colors and textures.

What is your favorite item to create?

Small things - instant gratification.

What advice would you give to new artists on Etsy?

Do what you love and make it your own - don't try to "copy" anyone else.

How do you promote your work?

Give-aways like this one & local art shows.

What is the inspiration for your work?

Lately I've been taking inspiration from spring. I also use artwork - usually paintings by impressionist masters.

Do any of your items go toward a special cause?
Not currently.
  

Do you have a job outside of Etsy? How do you handle both?

I have four part-time jobs (including the etsy) so I can stay at home with my kids! I'm a bookkeepter for the local 1800GotJunk Franchise, I sell Avon and also CookieLee jewelry. Some weeks are very very busy - mainly I let the house fall apart!

Where do you create?

Anywhere! Church, sports functions, meetings, living room, bed room.

What are your goals for your shop?

Well, of course to work up more inventory, find a method for better photographs! I'd like to be consistently selling on etsy. Right now I do much better locally as people can see and feel the items in a way I have not been able to project via photos.
