{Tutorial} Last Minute Mother's Day Gift

Nothing like waiting until the last minute to make a Mother's Day or Teacher Appreciation gift! This is a super easy craft that kids can help with. If they can hold a paintbrush, they can help!

I will be showing you how to make a cute little note pad or stationary pad.

My hubby got a little chuckle when he heard the camera snapping away and asked what I was doing. My reply was "Helping Bug make a Mother's Day gift for me". Truth be told, he would never have her make a craft for me. I'm lucky if I get a card!
Anyhoo, here's what you will need:
  • paper
  • coffee or tea (cooled)
  • paintbrush
  • paper towel or towel
  • stamps & stamp pad (optional)
  • scissors or paper cutter
Make a cup of coffee and set a little asside to cool (or make some tea and let the tea steep for a while and cool). Depending on how your child is, put a little cup of the coffee/tea for dipping and let them paint away! Mine is pretty good about not spilling so I let her have at it on her own. If your child is the kind to grab a full cup and have fun with it...you might want to hold it for them while they dip.

Take the painted piece of paper and blot dry with a paper towel. (I also let Bug help with this part...but then did it again on my own.)

Continue with as many pieces as you wish. Each page will make 4 small note pages. Set aside and wait until they are completely dry (otherwise the paper will tear as you cut it...lesson learned).
Bug made lots! We will be giving these to bother her grandma's and her great grandma (and me of course, her mom).

Cut each piece in half, then each half in half so you have 4 small pieces for each sheet of paper.

You can end here if you'd like, but I took a few of my fave stamps and added them on to each page. You can also burn the edges too if you prefer...I just know how clumsy I am and didn't want to risk either setting off the smoke alarm in the complex or burning it down!

I did this to all the pieces I cut out and stacked about 12 little pieces together. You can do a few things now. Punch a hole (or two) and tie with ribbon, clip with a cute paper clip or other clip...use your imagination!

I'd love to see what you make! Share it here
I'm all alone on my Flickr Group. :(

PS - For the month of May the giveaway items on Friday's will be for the mommas!
Whoop, whoop! Hope you check back tomorrow for the new giveaway!
