Car Seat Strap Covers Pattern

Now that the weather is getting warm...hot even...Bug doesn't have her jacket to protect her neck from the car seat straps. Before buying a pair I decided to see if I could whip one up quick and looky here, I did it!

I am not too experienced in making patterns but here is how I made mine. If you are a more experienced crocheter, feel free to comment or adjust it however you'd like.

If you don't know how to do a double crochet, check out this site for help.

You will need:
Worsted Weight Yarn
Size I9 crochet needle
2 buttons
matching thread
measurement of the strap thickness

Abbreviations:
ch- chain
dc- double crochet
st- stitch     sts- stitches

Pattern
ch 22
dc in 4th ch from hook & in each across
ch 3, turn
*dc in next st and in each across, ch 3, turn*
{repeat * until piece is just about long enough to fold around your strap}

Button Holes
dc in next 5 sts, ch 2, sk next 2 sts, dc in next 5 sts, ch 2, sk next 2 sts, dc in last 5 sts
(2 button holes made)

ch 1, turn
sc in each st across, making 2 sc sts in each button hole
fasten off and weave in ends

Fold your strap cover and measure where to sew buttons based on hole placement.

Here is the final piece:

And here it is all folded up:

I hope that made sense! Obviously you will need to make 2 of these unless you are making one for yourself!

I'd love to know if you make one and how it turned out.
